A Special Card

Yesterday was our 32nd anniversary and I gave this card to my husband (I won't show you what I wrote inside :). I used the One of a Kind stamp set, purely pomegranate cardstock, Berry Bliss Designer Paper. The heart is part of the Simon Upper On Board and covered with Berry Bliss paper. "For you" was stamped with craft whisper white ink and then embossed with white embossing power. I stamped the three flowers from One of a Kind stamp set twice; once in purely pomegranate and once in pretty in pink ink. Then I punched earch one with the boho blossom punch that fits the stamp exactly. I layered the largest flower and the medium one and added a brad.

What a delight to give hand made cards to loved ones.

Using Punches

I wanted to show you how to use the scallop punch and the 1 1/4" circle punch a little differently than you are used to maybe. This card was quite fun to make with the One of a Kind stamp set. I used the bashful blue designer paper that is part of the level 1 hostess benefits, bashful blue, real red and whisper white cardstock. I also used bashful blue, real red and wild wasabi ink. Here are the steps to make this card(click on any photo for a larger view):

1- Punch a scallop circle in the real red cardstock.

2 - Punch a 1 1/4" circle out of scratch paper

3- Position the 1 1/4" circle in the middle of the scallop circle and trace around it.

4- Position the real red scallop in the 1 1/4" circle punch in such a way that you don't see any part of the traced circle.

This is what you get.

5- Adhere the scallop circle on the front of your card.

6- Place the 1 1/4" circle punch in such a way that you do not see any red cardstock and punch.

7- Stamp the large flower from One of a Kind stamp set in bashful blue on whisper white.

8- Cut the flower out.

9- Position the flower behind the window and adhere on the inside of the card. Stamp the centre flower in real red. You can add little red dots around the large flower with a real red marker.

10- To finish the card, I stamped "for you" in real red and adhered the designer paper to the front of the card. I stamped a row of little circle in wild wasabi on whisper white. I used the corner rounder to make the scalloped edge on the real red piece of cardstock (I will show pictures on how to do that next week).

Composition Notebook

I have been having fun making these. Young girls love them. They sometimes use them to keep track of things regarding their webkins. I have done several birthday parties where the girls make their own notebook and a matching bookmark. It is quite fun. I was inspired by Angie at the Chic n' Scratch and of course modified her design.

I used the Priceless stamp set, the Berry Bliss DSP on the left one and the Bali Breeze DSP on the right one. You may want to book your next "girls' party" and make one of these! Let me know.

Pastels in a class

The pastels came in my kit and I have been using them quite a bit. If you attended one of my workshop, you likely saw me demonstrate them. Maybe you even used them on the make and take project. I was inspired by a card made by Patty and used pastels to make this one. I would like to show you the many ways you can use pastels in your projects. When you attend the technique class on Monday, July 7 (7:00 pm at my place in Prince George), you will make two cards, including this one, using pastels. The cost is $10 and you need to pre-register. Bookmarks are fun

I had fun making these bookmarks for a volunteer recognition event. Each person will receive their own monogrammed bookmark.  I hope they like it. The jumbo paper clip is  held in place with dimensionals and crystal effects between the scallop circle and another circle.
