Masculine Birthday Cards

Everyone needs a birthday card at some point. Do you find it hard to come up with a masculine card? I do... For this masculine birthday card, I started with a sketch (#167 on splicoaststampers). I find it easier to create my own card when I start with a map. My hiking friends tell me I am a map junkie, and I guess it transfer into my card making :)

I used the Party Hearty stamp set from Stampin' Up!

Birthday Cards

Isn't it fun to make feminine, dainty cards to give to someone special? I used the scallop edge punch on this card, but I think I would use the new eyelet border punch instead next time.

I sponged the edges of the top note die cut to make it pop more. You can't see in the picture, but the cherries sparkle with dazzling diamonds. I love this image from the Crazy for Cupcakes stamp set.

Now, masculine cards are not so easy to come up with. Come back tomorrow to see more card making ideas.

I have been playing with the Sweet Stems stamp set coming up in the new catalogue. Speaking of new catalogue, you won't want to miss the open house on Friday, January 23! Magic Snow

We have had our share of snow lately... which is not fun to shovel off the driveway. However, yesterday I went snowshoeing with a friend and that is the fun part of snow. What a beautiful day! Love the sound of crunching snow when all else is quiet...
In the evening, we made magic snowflake on a card. That is a very fun technique! We finished off the card with a sentiment from the Sincere Salutations stamp set.

Thank You in 2008

Every year around Christmas time we all (that is our two sons and their families, my husband and I) gather around and list all that we are thankful for in the last year. Then we give a copy to each family to keep. It's quite interesting to look back on lists from previous years.

However, this year we have not been together for the first time ever. So the list will have to be done via Email instead. Not quite the same, but it will have to do.

In the mean time, I thought I would share with you my "Stamping Top 6 Thank You's"
 
1- The opportunity to create beautiful things with paper and glue. There is something very therapeutic in that and it provides balance in my life. Plus I get to share it with others.

2 - My customers. I wouldn't have met you if it wasn't for Stampin' Up! and you have enriched my life in so many ways.

3 - Stampin' Up!'s colour system. I love that I don't have to guess at matching card stock, designer paper, ink or ribbon. It all works together.

4 - You, my blog reader. The comments you leave encourage me to keep sharing my passion.

5 - Stampin' Up! What a great company! Not only are they great leaders in the industry but they make sure we have all the resources we need to be successful demonstrators.

6 -  Bryan, my husband - what a great supporter he is! From getting customer or hostess packets ready to helping with deliveries, I don't know what I would do without him.

7 (bonus one) - My relationship with God. Last on this list, but first in my priorities. What an awesome God He is, and what a privilege to serve Him!

Desk Calendar

Who doesn't need a calendar? In a class recently, we turned Stampin' Up!'s Create a Calendar into a desk calendar. Each page is decorated with the included die cuts. There is space also to remind you of special days such as birthdays etc. We also made a matching gift bag that several ladies used to give their calendars as gifts.
That was a fun class!!

Kristina's Color Inspiration

When surfing last night I came across someone's take on Kristina Werner's challenge. I thought I would participate too. We had to use rose red, pretty in pink, old olive and whisper white. I cased this card from the Idea Book and Catalogue (p.67).
I used the Fun and Fast Notes stamp set. It's a great set you can use with just about any occasion. Plus you get to colour the images to suit the occasion.
