Sympathy Card - Sneak Peek

Sometimes we need a sympathy or get well card - and we usually don't have a lot of advance notice. So it's helpful to have such cards on hand.

You've seen this card in my studio, you've admired it... now is your chance to make one just like it. You will have your choice of sentiment. We will make two more cards as well.

Autumnal Equinox

So today the daytime and nightime are equal - or to put it fancy, it's the autumnal equinox. Here in Prince George, the sun is rising at 6:57 am and setting at 7:10 pm. Tomorrow, the day will be shorter, meaning you will have more evening time!

Why not take advantage of the longer evenings to make a card or a scrapbook page?

Today's sample is made using colours that work well for fall: crushed curry, pumpkin pie and soft suede. The cute elephant is from the Animal Stories stamp set. You can see another cute card with this set on this post.

I ran the piece of pumpkin pie card stock through the big shot with Stampin' Up! backgrounds 1 texturz plate. I had used the soft suede marker in the grooves first. I also used the Razzleberry Lemonade Designer Series paper. What do you think of the effect?

Emerging Color with Petal Pizzazz

This is certainly a fun technique! Those who attended the technique class last Monday got to play with it.

Emerging Color Technique
First you stamp small images on your Whisper White card stock. Here I chose one of the small flowers in the Petal Pizzazz stamp set and stamp with Melon Mambo and Crushed Curry. I also stamped one of the Circle Circus in Certainly Celery

Then you take a fairly solid stamp - here the large flower from the Petal Pizzazz - and stamp it using Versamark ink. Emboss it with clear powder and the heat tool.

Next step, you take a brayer and roll it in a darker colour - here Rich Razzleberry. Re-ink the roller and roll again until you get the desired coverage. Using a tissue, wipe off the excess ink on the flower.

My next step was to stamp with Versamark and emboss with clear powder the stem and leaves.

Add a ribbon, mat it, position it on your card, and you're done.

Printed Window Sheets

Have you noticed the Designer Printed Window Sheets? They are on p. 169 of the Idea Book & Catalogue. You can see them online as well.

They are very easy to use and allow you to make a card in no time. I added grass from the Inspired by Nature stamp set and branches from the Fresh Cuts stamp set. I hid the adhesive under the card stock. Quick and easy. 

There are several designs and sizes - great for many projects.

Just For YOU

Any time is a good time to tell someone they are special. This "multipurpose" card is made using the "One of a Kind" stamp set and the coordinating boho blossoms punch. I just love the way Stampin' Up! products coordinate with each other!

Stamp the "three flowers" in rose red, so saffron and old olive. Then punch them out and arrange them around the main flower. The main flower is stamped in pumpkin pie, cut out and popped up with Stampin' Dimensionals. The single flower is stamped in old olive and punched out with the 3/4" punch then glued to the centre of the main flower.

Animal Stories Anniversary

If you are in Prince George this week end, drop by my table in the Pine Centre Mall. I will be close to Zellers. Check out the sale on class registration fees (except the World Card Making FUN Day).

Ooooppss... this card was intended for my son and daughter-in-law's anniversary, but it never got to them -it's still in my stash :(

I usually try to stick to one maybe two stamp sets on each card. But I loved the card that Kriss Huels had made so I had to make my own.

To make the moon, I punched a 1-3/8" circle in a scrap piece of paper. I place the hole where I wanted it on my card. Then I sponged Crushed Curry until I was satisfied with the results.

The branch comes from the Cheep Talk stamp set. I used Old Olive and Soft Suede markers directly on the rubber. Then huffed to re-moisten it and stamped my image.

I stamped the owl from Animal Stories stamp set in Crushed Curry and Night of Navy on scrap pieces of Whisper White card stock. Then I cut them out and popped them up with dimensionals. the whole panel is popped up on dimensionals as well.

The greeting is from Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set. I love that stamp set! 24 different greetings - one for every occasion you can think of.

Inspired Ghosting

Ghosting on vellum is a lot of fun! Stampin' Mama (Erika Martin)featured a card using this technique recently and that inspired me to try it again using a different colour scheme.

For this technique, you brayer Classic ink onto vellum. Then you "stamp" an un-inked rubber stamp - in this case, the flowers from Inspired by Nature. It will pull off some of the colour that has been brayered. Let the panel dry and then mounted it on Whisper White card stock to make the image pop.

To practice this technique and learn many more, you may want to consider joining the club. Advent Calendar

Hold on, don't panic... there are more than 23 days left before Christmas...
The idea for this Advent Calendar was given at the Stampin' Up! convention last year. This year I decided to make one.
I used the Christmas Countdown Decor Element in read red (item#114831), old olive and real red designer series paper; old olive, very vanilla and real red grosgrain ribbon. The frame was painted in very vanilla. The inside of the boxes have designer series paper as well so they still look nice when the box is opened and empty.

This is going to a family with small children. Aren't the kids going to enjoy checking a box each day during Advent? What a fun way to anticipate Christmas!
