Christmas Card: A Star

 A bit of stamping, a bit of bling and you have a Christmas card.

I cut the star with my Big Shot and the stars #2 die. Then I covered it with Versamark ink and embossed it with iridescent ice, giving it just enough sparkle. For more sparkle you could use crystal effects and dazzling diamonds. Personally, I tend to prefer a more subdued sparkle.

The greeting is from Scenic Season stamp set. i embossed it with white emboss powder on Taken with Teal card stock.

I got my inspiration for the colours from the Holiday Lounge Designer Series paper.

A Razzle Berry Christmas

I am quite enjoying playing with the Berry Christmas stamp set. It has so many images that it is quite versatile.

Lights on the Lovely Christmas Tree

It's not too visible on the photo, but the red dots on the tree "light" up in real life...

The Lovely as a Tree stamp set is so versatile... and the pine tree is just perfect for a Christmas card.

Christmas Card with the Big Shot

It's been snowing off and on in the last 24 hours and there is more to come apparently... So this big snow flake on the card fits today. It's been die cut with the snowflake die and the big shot machine. The real red scallop circle is also cut that way.

The sentiment is from the All Holidays stamp set and is stamped with craft chocolate chip and heat embossing with clear emboss powder.

Berry Christmas Coming to a Class Near You

After we finished running errands, I went into my stamp room to create cards for upcoming classes. I am not sure yet which class will make this card...

I recently acquired the Berry Christmas stamp set and have been having fun with it. You can find it in the Holiday Mini catalogue on p. 20 or online here.

Another Snow Swirled Card

I was inspired by a card from Julia Link to make this one using the Snow Swirled stamp set.

After making a number of Christmas cards with unusual colours, I wanted to go back to more traditional colours. Rich Regals has been my favourite family of colours from the start. The Handsome Hunter and Bravo Burgundy from this family fit this card well.

I love the way Stampin' Up! makes coordinating colours so easy! The colours are grouped in families - with all the colours working well together within that family. Then for each colour you can get two types of ink, markers, card stock and coordinating ribbon, brads and other embellishements. So the tree stamped in Handsome Hunter coordinates with the Handsome Hunter card stock.

I stamped the snow flakes in versamark and embossed them with irisdescent ice emboss powder. In the class, we used the Frost White Shimmer paint for the snowflakes for a great effect also. If you have any questions this project or to place an order, let me know.

Small Gift Wrap

What would you like to put in this box? chocolates? jewelry? a tie? a gift card? candies? The possibilities are endless. This box was designed by Erika Martin in her "Packaging Extravaganza" online course.

A Day of Remembrance

Today we commemorate the end of the First World War on November 11, 1918 at 11:00: the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month. But more than that we want to keep alive the achievements and sacrifices made by those who served Canada in times of war and peace.

I grew up just a few kilometers from where the armistice was signed, in the middle of the forest. There is still a site that you can visit. My grand mother was a teenager at that time living in northern France and she wrote about her experiences during the war in her journal. My paternal grandfather was in the trenches in eastern France but didn't talk much about it. My parents were teenagers during WWII and both were impacted, especially my mother whose family had to be evacuated.

I am very thankful that I have not lived in a country at war. 

Dasher

I CASEd this card from Mary Ashby. Soft suede and rich razzleberry combine well for Christmas colours. The Dasher stamp can be purchased by itself to make great cards.

I like the simplicity of this card. It was one we made tonight at the Christmas Cards class. There is another Christmas Cards class coming up on Thursday, December 3 at 7:00 pm.

Flight of the Butterfly

There are several quotes in the Flight of the Butterfly stamp set. This one is particularly resonating with me today: "If nothing ever changed, there would be no butterflies."

I spent the week end at Ness Lake Bible Camp with a group of 150 women. Lots of fun! The speaker was Grace Fox and she challenged us to be spiritually fit: to train our minds, our tongues, our knees, and our hands to glorify God. I was prompted to change a few things in my life - good changes. I will share more about this in future posts.

Laura made this card. The photo doesn't show Bermuda Bay very well, but it looks very nice with Crushed Curry.

You can make much more than cards or scrapbook pages with this program. How about narrating the story around the photos and adding it to a multi media project. Or adding music.

Another Season of Simple Grace

As promised, here is another card made using the Season of Simple Grace stamp set.

You will want to use the stamp-a-ma-jig to position the star. This tool allows you to place your images exactly where you want them! Do often stamp crooked? the stamp-a-ma-jig is the tool you need. Ask me how you can end crooked images.

Season of Simple Grace with Merry Moments

The Season of Simple Grace stamp set has several images relating to the birth of Jesus: Mary, Joseph and Jesus, the Magi, and the shepherds. It also has two greetings. Check it out online.

For this card, I used the Merry Moments designer series paper and stamp my image in chocolate chip.
And of course my favourite die, the top note by Stampin' Up!

Snow Swirled: the Tree

Same stamp set, Snow Swirled, very different card than yesterday.

In this card, I used the "faux embossing" technique.

I stamped the tree in Whisper White craft ink first. Let it dry (or use the heat tool to go faster). Then use the stamp-a-ma-jig to position the chocolate chip tree slightly to the right and down from the white one.

Snow Swirled: Snowflakes

I love the Snow Swirled stamp set because it is so versatile. In this card I used the snowflakes and one of the greetings.

Tomorrow, I will show you a card using the tree and the faux embossing technique.

I wanted to keep this card really simple, but you could add some Shimmer Paint with the bashful blue ink for some sparkle on the snowflakes.
