Eggcellent Eggs Cards

Why use something exactly the way it is meant to be used? That's what creativity is all about.

The Eggcellent Eggs Kit in the Occasions Mini catalogue is designed for decorating eggs. However, as you can see, you can use all the little flowers and other elements to make really cute notecards. These were made by club members recently.

Being a Stampin' Up! demonstrator, I get to be creative every day and be paid for it. But more than that, I get to help others enjoy their creative side too. Nothing brings me more joy than to have someone exclaim "Wow, I made this..."

Birthday Card with Paper Flower Tutorial

This is a very simple card to make but how striking!

I used the Very Vintage wheel on Melon Mambo for the bottom panel. The greeting is from Well Scripted stamp set. Very easy to position with the clear blocks!

The black satin ribbon adds a touch of elegance.

Paper Flower Tutorial:

- Take a jumbo brad and stain it with black Staz-on ink. Let dry.

- Roll the Very Vintage Wheel with Melon Mambo ink over tissue paper. The piece I used was about 8"x6".

- Fold tissue paper so you have about 6 layers at least 2.5"x2.5". Sandwich the tissue paper between 2 layers of computer paper. Punch the stack with the Fancy Flower punch. The computer paper keeps the edges of the tissue paper nice and crisp while going through the punch.

- Crumple the tissue paper then un-crumple. Re-stack so the flower petals are offset from each other. Punch a hole in the middle of the flower. Add the brad. Fluff up the flower. Add it to your project.

Totally Tool: A Masculine Card

Tools, tools and more tools... We enjoy our card making and scrapbooking tools... the men in our lives enjoy building tools...

We have no choice in our family: my grandmother collected gadgets, I tend to collect craft making tools, and my son is collecting many building tools. Hey, you need just the right tool for the job, right? {smile}

Christine made this masculine card using the Totally Tool stamp set from Stampin' Up! She participated in the Stampers' Club for the last six months and we did a swap on the last day.

Sweet Pea Bird

This is a fast and easy card - one of the samples we will be making at the Spring Fling Stamp Camp. All the samples will be based from the Sweet Pea Designer Series paper. This card also uses the two-step bird punch.

We will make 12 cards and box to hold them. The cards will be all occasions and in some cases you will be able to choose the greeting.

Door prizes... demonstrations... stamping with friends... what more can you ask for?

With All My Heart: Thank You

This card is SO easy! I got the idea from Dawn Griffith and we made some at club this month. Need a Thank You note in a jiffy? This is it!

To make the edge:
- punch a border on a scrap piece of card stock. I used the Scallop Trim Border punch (which you can get for FREE right now, ask me how).
- Place the scrap with the border just slightly off the edge of your card.
- Using a sponge dauber, add ink to the card. The punched border will leave a very pretty design.

The main image and sentiment are from "With All My Heart" stamp set.

Simply Said

The last three days have been very draining. I have come home after a full day of attentive listening quite tired.

I found that making a card was a great way to rejuvenate... It was amazing how energized I felt after spending time in my craft room.

The Simply Said stamp set used in this card is SO versatile! Hearts, flowers, a couple sayings... Add some colouring, the Perfect Polka Dots Textured Impressions Folder, a piece from the Hodge Podge Hardware and you have an easy but nice card.

Forest Friends Reflected

I followed Michelle Zindorf's instructions to make this card - mostly.  She has a lot of talent for putting to paper what you see around you. I am now finding myself looking at sunsets in a bit of a different manner... so what colours are really at play here? How would that translate onto paper?

Quite a number of stamping techniques are used on this project. Would you like to have hands-on instruction and you live in the Prince George area?

Sending Love Quilt Card

I have seen this type of card several times and finally got the chance to make one.

The Sending Love Specialty Designer Series paper is quite versatile and using it for a "Thank You" card seemed quite natural. I love the sparkles! This paper is currently in the Occasions Mini Catalogue and will be available until April 30 only.

Here is how I made the "quilt:"

I punched 1-1/4" squares that I glued on a piece of whisper white (3-3/4"x5") card stock. Then I ran the piece through the Big Shot with the Top Note die.

The sentiment is the "Elegant Thank You" stamp - only $8.95 and so pretty.

Double Slider Card

The excitement is building around here... The Olympics are opening in our backyard (ok... about 800km away, but close enough) in just a few hours!

Sometimes we need a card that is a bit more exciting than usual... this double slider card certainly fits. When you pull the top slider up, the bottom one slides down at the same time. Isn't that fun? I love it and keep playing with it. Here it is when it's closed.

Originally I got the idea from Dawn but I used a totally different theme for my card. I used the new Vintage Vogue stamp set in the Occasions Mini Catalogue and gave the card a "vintage" look: sponging, layering of images etc. It was a lot of fun to make in class last night.

Valentines for Kids

We had a lot of fun! Kids came with their Moms and made valentines for their friends. Mom enjoyed quality and creative time with her child. From past experience, the Valentines are very well received - giving the creator a real feeling of accomplishment.

Each Valentine is 2-3/4" x 3" (to make better use of the 8-1/2"x11" piece of card stock). We used a variety of stamp sets: Vintage Vogue, Cheep Talk, Simply Said, With All My Heart, All Holidays, Forest Friends, Teeny Tiny Wishes. 

Most of these stamp sets do not necessarily have a "Valentine" theme. However, you can see how versatile they can be!

Abundant Hope

Still enough snow on the ground here in Prince George so it's fun to stamp daffodils and dream about spring...

These daffodils are part of the "Abundant Hope" stamp set (117054 or 118547) from the Occasions Mini. I copied the card in the catalogue... changing the colours and a few other things. I did not put any sentiment so I can just stamp it at the time I need the card.

You can't see too well on the photo, but the bashful blue card stock has been embossed with the Perfect Polka Dots textured impressions folder, also in the Occasions mini (117335). Love the texture!

Sending Love: Another Valentine Card Idea

Letting someone know we appreciate them does not necessarily require anything elaborate.

Cassandra made this 4x4 with the Sending Love Specialty Designer Series Paper. Specialty because one side of every sheet of paper has sparkles. You gotta love sparkles... especially when they are already well attached and don't fly everywhere :)

Valentine Card Idea

Lots of texture on this card! You can't see too well in the photo, but the big red heart is covered with micro beads from the red bed duo from Stampin' Up!

The sentiment and little flower come from the stamp set "With All My Heart."

We had lots of fun making these two cards at club this month. We used the "double the fun" technique with the stamp set called "With All My Heart."

Sweet Pea

Janice made this card using the Sweet Pea Designer Series Paper Stack (117161). What a great deal! You get 48 double-sided sheets of wonderful paper that coordinates with Stampin' Up! card stock.

Janice added texture to the card by adding some Sweet Pea Stitched Felt flowers (117266) - which totally coordinate with the Designer Series Paper of course.

Besides the cute basket shown in the last post, this is one of the cards we will be making on February 9.
