Well, the Olympics are drawing to a close... but not without a bang... the gold medal hockey game. Go Canada Go!!

Many athletes are outside the lime lights because they haven't won medals. But the fact is, they are good enough to have made it to the Olympics - already a big accomplishments.

Difference Makers

Making a difference in others' lives... a very worthwhile focus. Rick Hansen has inspired a generation of Canadians with his "Man in Motion" world tour. Now, during the Olympics, he is telling the stories of people who have encouraged our athletes, those who have made a difference in the athletes' lives: the Difference Makers. Olympic Torch in Prince George

Well, this was a fun night. No, I was not a torch bearer but this gal wanted me to hold her torch to get my picture taken. How cool was that!!!!

I have been in a country hosting the Olympic games several times in my life but this was the first time I saw the Olympic flame so close.

After spending the day at my desk doing office work, it was lots of fun to join the crowds in cheering the flame along the route.

Advent: Joy

As Christmas gets closer, we often get more stressed and not so joyful... Let's remember that Christ is the one who can bring us Joy.

Tool Tip: Colouring Tools

It's Saturday, time for some tips about Stampin' Up! tools

Aqua Painters: so easy to use! The water is stored in the handle of the paint brush. No need for a water container that might spill onto your project.

You get two aqua painters per package: a fine tip and a large tip. 

Blender Pens: the flexibility of watercolour with the convenience of markers.  Clean off the tip with a few stroke on scratch paper and you are ready to use the next colour.

You get three pens with two tips each - these will last you a LONG time. 

Both these tools can be used with Stampin' Up! Watercolor Pencils, Watercolor Wonder Crayons, Classic Stampin' Pads, and other mediums to pull and blend colors.

A Day of Remembrance

Today we commemorate the end of the First World War on November 11, 1918 at 11:00: the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month. But more than that we want to keep alive the achievements and sacrifices made by those who served Canada in times of war and peace.

I grew up just a few kilometers from where the armistice was signed, in the middle of the forest. There is still a site that you can visit. My grand mother was a teenager at that time living in northern France and she wrote about her experiences during the war in her journal. My paternal grandfather was in the trenches in eastern France but didn't talk much about it. My parents were teenagers during WWII and both were impacted, especially my mother whose family had to be evacuated.

I am very thankful that I have not lived in a country at war.

We will be hiking the Fort George Canyon with a group of friends. Lunch will be by the Fraser river, named after the famous explorer Simon Fraser. I am not sure that we will be singing O Canada, but I still remember the first Canada Day after I became a Canadian citizen (I grew up in France if you were wondering where that accent came from...). Listening to the anthem was a very emotional time for me. Now I felt part of this great country where there are so many great opportunities.

Talk About Being Spoiled...

Last night was our Volunteer Appreciation dinner and did we ever get spoiled!!! A beautiful, soft bathrobe and a humongous basket full all goodies. Never mind the incredible meal and door prizes. The volunteer work is rewarding in itself and then the Program Coordinator totally spoils us. It sure makes me want to do another 750 hours!!
